WRAPPING UP 2012

  • 5 min read

Well it’s almost time to say goodbye to 2012 but before we do that let’s look back a little and reflect on the key moments we’ve had dominating another year in the history books. 2012 was an exciting year for the M/M filled with events from the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Tour, Dew Tour, X Games, Military FMX Demos, Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing, Global Rallycross, MMA, and many more moments spread across the action sports field.

Todd Potter put together his own series with Rockstar Energy Drink titled, Todd Potter Is… that gives you an inside perspective on Todd’s life.

Yep, you might of heard or seen it yourself… we have a Monster Truck, bad ass… very! Brian Deegan and Todd Leduc made their first Monster Jam debut in the Metal Mulisha Monster Truck taking on the whole series and ready for more in 2013.

New Zealand housed the Red Bull Roast It competition in Gorge Road Queenstown which was the biggest dirt comps these Kiwi’s have even seen go down, and not just only in New Zealand… but as world standards go! Crowds crammed into Gorge Road Jump Park ready to watch the 16 rider lineup, waiting to see who will emerge to the top of the podium and claim the 2012 Red Bull Roast It Best Rider title! Brandon Dosch and New Zealand local talent, Paul Langlands represented the Metal Mulisha laying out their lineup of tricks gaining huge crowd support on every run.

Dosch stomped an almost unbelievable double whip across a transfer line that nobody else even considered attempting and tied up his results with Jed Mildon for the Red Bull Roast It, Best Line. At the end of day it was Langlands who charged the course relentlessly all day with a huge bag of tricks earning the Best Rider title. Langlands took home a well deserved victory with a gold BMX frame trophy, and a nice check for $3000!

Runner’s World Magazine caught up with Derek Garland and featured a two page spread which covers Garland’s love for running marathons. Derek covers some pretty cool stuff about OX, how the cardio helps his riding, what marathons he has done and more.

The Rockstar Metal Mulisha FMX Team hit the NAF El Centro runway home of the U.S. Navy Blue

Todd Potter, Wes Agee, Nick Dunne, and Rob Adelberg took on Southern California’s Red Bull X-Fighters located at Glen Helen Raceway. This was the largest course in the history of FMX measuring 300 feet by 750 feet, mixed up with 30 different riding options; a bowl-curved wall, quarter pipe, wall ride and a 160-foot jump, a 60-foot-high step. Adelberg went down hard, prior to the contest breaking his jaw. This didn’t stop Rob from riding as he finishing up with a 6th place finish. Dunne made his first X-Fighters appearance laying out a solid run with some huge tricks for the judges finishing off in 10th place.

Agee took on his first Red Bull X-Fighters, stepping it up and impressing the fans and judges with his huge tricks and big extensions, wrapping up a 3rd place podium finish and claiming Best MovePotter showed that fans how it’s done, dominating each jump while checking off a list of tricks that impressed the judges for this 1st place podium finish. Congrats to the Metal Mulisha team for dominating the Glen Helen X-Fighters!

Metal Mulisha team had a huge turnout during X Games 18 held at Los Angeles Staple Center. Potter fired things up for the sold out stadium during the MOTO X Best Whip contest.

Todd is known for throwing one of the biggest whips, and has some of the cleanest style around! The competition was solid this year, and Potter we all thought had the event already claimed for a top spot on the podium. It all came down to a fan text vote with judging. Potter’s whips are massive, and as always smooth as hell but finished the night with a Bronze medal

Deegan put on a show for all the fans in Staples Center stepping it up to 40 feet taking the Bronze medal! Nice work Deegan, another one under your belt!

Jackson “Jacko” Strong backed up another year taking his second Moto X Best Trick Gold medal with his secret trick called the ‘Jack‘. This was one of the sickest variations of a flip / body varial ever pulled off during any event!

Sinclair landed a clean double backflip on his first run, a trick that has brought him both triumph and tragedy over the last few years. He had originally planned to bring a no-handed variation of the double to the Best Trick contest, but had been under-rotating it in practice over his foam pit and, with his wife six months pregnant, sensibly opted out of trying it in his second run.

Faisst put up a fight dropping into the first corner and was trailing him for clean pass. It was looking close for Faisst but the checkered flag came to soon. With the field of riders running down their eliminations, our good buddy Edgar Torronteras took on a gnarly crash coming off the ramp during his semifinal heat against Adams, with what look to be a under rotated flip. We hope you get better Edgar and have a fast recovery! Mason was up against Adams and grabbed the holeshot down ramp and held it together for the Gold. With Edgar not being able to race against Ronnie this matched up Faisst to claim a Bronze medal, which is now his third straight in Speed and Style! Congrats Faisst you earned it and next year you will snatch that Gold!

The Metal Mulisha General, Brian Deegan claimed the Bronze medal in the Rallycross competition at X Games 18 putting up one hell of a fight!

Brandon Dosch took on the 2012 BMX Worlds Contest in Cologne, Germany. The riders faced some European rain, but it didn’t hold anyone back with Dosch peddling up his list of tricks for all the judges and fans pulling off a 2nd place podium finish in the Pro Dirt contest! Congrats Dosch!

Metal Mulisha’s Cooper Webb took on the 2012 Monster Energy Cup at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas taking the overall win bringing home the Amateur All-Star Title! Cooper already holds over 80 national titles and continues to rise to the top of his game.

The final Championship round of the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series (LOORRS) was held at Firebird Raceway! Todd Leduc kicked things off for the Mulisha team taking his PRO 4 out on the battle field wrapping up 2nd place in the series.

Brian Deegan put up a fight in the PROLITE class staying up in the mix for a fight to the finish taking 1st in the race.

Myles Cheek made some impressive moves out on the track today! He was able to jump a good restart with only a lap to go and run hard on the outside to get into first place. Myles held on strong to the finish grabbing the win and the LOORRS Trophy Kart championship.

Deegan finished off the day wrapping up his second consecutive back-to-back title as the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series PRO 2 Champion! Metal Mulisha Dominated yet again and congrats to the whole team for all their hard work!

Deegan went head to head with some of the worlds best drivers including friend and fellow racer, Tanner Foust who took the win in round 4. Deegan was ready to get back in the fight and mix things up during round 5 in his Ford Fiesta. Deegan was following Foust closely trying to make the pass to the podium and came in a clean 2nd place finish.

Well that about wraps up all the highlights of 2012! We would like to thank you all for your support! You can count on us for another year of complete Metal Mulisha World Wide Domination! Party your ass off tonight and DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE! See you in 2013!
