September started out pretty rough for me! My birthday falls on the 2nd, which is usually Labor Day weekend. So, no matter what I decide to do, there’s always something fun going on. I decided to head out to So-Cal and hit some tracks with a few friends for the weekend. I got the pleasure of meeting and riding with one of my all time favorites, Ashley Fiolek!! She is the most amazing rider, and one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met!
I had so much fun ripping around the track with her at Cahuilla Creek. Unfortunately, my day didn’t last very long. I crashed on my friends KX450 and ended up fracturing my C7 vertebrae. As bad as it sounds, I walked away from it and ended up visiting the ER a few hours later. I was in a lot of pain but I honestly didn’t think I broke my neck! That’s how moto goes though, it’s a risk we all take for the love of two-wheels.
I headed up to Nor-Cal in mid september to visit my girlfriend Jen in an attempt to make up for my shitty, broke-neck havin’, birthday weekend. Her and I got matching tattoos in San Fran and made our way to Sacramento for the Aftershock Music Festival. It was a fucking blast!!
Two straight days of rock ‘n’ roll and good people helped relieve my pain, haha! Ive had a pretty nice digital camera (Canon EOS 30D, ok well, its decent) laying around for about a year, so i figured id bring it along to test out my awesome photo taking skills. I got some pretty killer pics of some of the bands and artists that performed. I think i did a pretty damn good job considering I’m used to working in front of the camera and not behind it. I think i may have found my new calling!
My work month was steady with photoshoots, and I wasn’t gonna let a little broken neck throw a wrench in my game! haha. I was honored to get the opportunity to shoot with the amazingly talented Rob Fenn! If you don’t know who he is, I suggest you get in the know! His work is superb and he is spectacular to work with. Definitely one of my favs!
I also did a shoot for the new 2015 Dillon Aero calendar. Dillon Aero designs, develops, manufactures and supports the Dillon Aero M134 Gatling Gun as well as a wide range of supporting and related products. In other words, they make big ass awesome weapons for the US military. My shoot was with the Mk 19 Grenade Launcher They always save the good stuff for me, haha!
I wrapped up this month by getting my bike all dialed in for the first dune trip of the year, Halloween!! Since I’m not allowed to ride for a few more weeks, I might as well get her ready to rip!! In addition to the new projects I’ve shot this month, I also have a few calendars out now and available to all you wonderful fans!
Regardless of my crash, September was a very fulfilling month for me. I guess I can cross “breaking my neck” off my list of things to NOT do!!
