Mark Smith was The Bear, a fighter and MMA trainer who had been close with Brian Deegan since 1996. He trained Deegan, Jeremy Lusk, Ronnie Faisst and other Mulisha riders. Deegan credited Mark's training with helping him win the Los Angeles Supercross and called him one of his best friends.

Mark trained in jiu-jitsu and worked with Bas Rutten before moving to Hawaii, where he put together the Maui Mulisha fight team.

Mark died in May 2010. He was part of the Mulisha family.
