Metal Mulisha rider Vicki Golden has been breaking gender barriers in the sport of motocross for years. The three time X Games gold medalist has spent most of her professional career banging bars with the guys instead of lining up next to her female counterparts, a pattern she plans to continue throughout her career. Many have questioned why Golden stepped away from the women’s professional motocross series to pursue competition against guys, and her answer has finally been made public.
ESPN/X Games sat down with Vicki, as well as women’s motocross champion and X Games gold medalist, Ashley Fiolek, and the Vice President of MX Sports, Davey Coombs, to discuss the current state of women’s motocross. Check out what Vicki had to say when she was asked to open up about her thoughts on where women’s motocross currently is, where it’s going, and how she plans to pursue her dreams in spite of the downward spiral.
